Pucker up

We’re gonna be talking about our lips today ya’ll. our lips are either getting kissed, wearing a bold lip color your mom hates and has to constantly remind you every time you wear it, or feeling incredibly dry and angry because you live in New York where the wind chill cuts right through your soul. Thankfully though I have found three lip products that have made winter a little more bearable and make longer wear lip colors feel more comfortable.

The first lip product that I want to mention is the Bite Agave Lip Mask. This was my very first “high end” lip product and I’m still in love with it three years later. When I do decide to wear bold liquid lip colors I almost always put this on before. It makes even the driest of formulas more comfortable and it makes it so the lipstick formula doesn’t settle into dry lip lines; which at the moment is a problem that really grinds my gears for me. I cannot stand when my lips look like dried up raisins. What’s also great is that besides it coming in a clear tint it also comes in two other tints that give you a light wash of color. So for my friends on the go that like something they can quickly apply this is a no brainer option for you. When you go to research this product it will say it’s a nightly sleeping lip mask however I’ve used it either during the day or at night and I promise you nothing bad will happen, the world will keep spinning. Bite Agave Lip Mask retails for $26 and is .52 of a fluid ounce. I know this seems like the price is too high but the actual product itself is quite thick and a little bit goes a LONG way. The thickness is due to the agave nectar base but it also as jojoba oil in it as well which helps it become an emollient for the lips. Bite also has their Lip Lab located in NYC where you can make an appointment to create your very own bite lip product. You get to choose the scent, texture and the color as well. So if the other three shades don’t work for you go ahead and make an appointment to create a shade that is more your style!

The second lip mask option is the Clinique Pep-Start Pout Restoring Night Mask. Yes once again this has been recommended to be used at night (which I do!)  but I also think if I’m going to spend my hard earned money I’m going to wear it whenever I please. I like to use this lip mask with any formula of lipsticks as a quick prep step. My favorite result from this product is that it deeply hydrates, preps, and it does absorb over time but not in a way that leaves you feeling as if though it has completely dried up. If that makes sense…to anyone besides me. I have also noticed that when I go to take off my long wear lip product at the end of the day my lips aren’t stained with the color as it usually would if I applied it to my bare lips. Not that I don’t love Kat Von D’s studded kiss lipstick in the shade Poe but I also don’t want to look like I ate a blue popsicle and now have the color ring around my mouth because I have no self control. Any who, this product is .34 of an ounce and retails for $17.50, definitely more on the affordable side. Clinique’s products are always allergy and dermatologist tested. There is no added fragrance to this product either so for my allergy prone friends you have an option as well.

Finally we have gotten to our last product which is the Laneige lip sleeping mask. Holy shit you guys this product has brought me back to life SO many times. Not only does it have a vitamin c and antioxidant complex but the smell is to die for. I personally have only been using this product for a couple weeks now but I can honestly say I have seen results in the way my lips look and how product applies on them. I have noticed less lip lines and my lips look and feel more plump. I highly recommend this product if you are someone who suffers from extremely dry and flaky lips. It is instantly calming, soothing, and it does have a very light pinky tint to it so you can wear it with a more natural look. Or full glam however you want todo it. The best part is this product is .7 of a fluid ounce and retails for only $20! Crazy I know! The formula itself does come in a jar but the packaging also includes this adorable little lip applicator if you’re someone who finds plunging your finger into your lip products kinda germy, like I do. Laneige lip sleeping mask is dermatologist tested, free of parabens, and suitable for all skin types.

Thank you guys so much for all the positive and constructed feedback I have been getting! I appreciate it more than you know. As always if you have any questions, recommendations, or just ant to start a conversation do not hesitate to leave a comment!
